Winter Paintball Schedule Preview

Posted in Uncategorized on October 12, 2008 by calebtheredwood

Wow! A lot of sweaty evenings finalizing the indoor paintball field. The Jungle Falls indoor arena is ready and willing to take on some crazed paintball slinging teams and players. After a month of hanging paintball netting and our custom turf, cleaning and setting up the Ultimate Airball bunkers, and giving the 8,000 dollar compressor/cascade system, we are ready to rock.

The first tournament will be held in the 25,000 square foot arena on November 1st. We are having a 5 man cash dash. It will be only $50 bucks per team for entry(includes compressed air fills). We will be charging $60 per case of PMI premium or Draxxus Blaze. Yes, due to popular demand, we are going to try Draxxus paintballs for the Winter to see how things go. They will be orange shell with a very thick yellow fill. This is the paintball color combo recommended by most paintball gun manufacturers to help eye systems detect the ball in the breach.

This Winter we have picked up some paintball tournament sponsorships to add a little cash to the prizes. All of these cash bonuses will be offered for one tournament each month. They will require a minimum turn out for each tournament. It should be at least an extra $1,000 for each of these events added, spread out to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.

In other news, the outdoor fields are still going strong. They should be staying open through the first part of December for walk on outdoor play and all around paintball abuse. Last year we had a big Halloween paintball party with a scary costume theme and a huge grill out Halloween night. We had almost 150 walk ons and wiped out the local grocery stores ground beef abd brat supply. We partied all night and left when the sun came up.

The Pro Shop still has some paintball guns to move cheap. Egos and Dye Matrix are looking for new owners to take them home and give them love. There are a few Halos going cheap too. Stop in and see.

Used Paintball Equipment Swap Meet

So last weekend was the big paintball swap meet at jungle Falls. We had a HUGE turnout and an overall great time. I got rid of alot of my old equipment and held myself from buying any other stuff. We had 23 tables set up and everyone was used. Most people had items very resonably priced and lots of stuff moved.

We also ran a ‘Draw Your Partner’ 3 on 3 mini-event. it was a blast! It cost 5bucks to get in and paid out 100%. Air was free and paint was $50 a case of 2k. We played on the small hyperball field on the lower area. We were also talking about having a “hopperless” event. Everyone would have to load the paintballs by hand!?!? It didn’t happen though, after the DYP 3 on 3 everyone was worn out. So we put the guns away and drank lots of beer =)

We are taking a few weeks off of organized events and running gatherings. September 7th is the next event, we will be reffing a 5-man cash event. It’s $250 entry per team, it includes air, field fee’s. It’s 100% payout!!! Paintballs will be $75 per case of PMI premium. It’s a little more of an expensive event but everyone is always asking for a higher payout event. No other place I’ve ever seen has offered 100% payout no matter how many teams enter!

The field will still be open for the next two weeks if anyone wants to come out and play. We will always be up for getting a couple of teams together to skrimmage or shoot around in the woods.

Paintball Team Practice

Yesterday, between rain storms, we got out and did some team scrimmaging/snap shooting. We got together with three other teams and played around on the field we setup for the young guns tournament we had Saturday. It’s fun reffing a field and watching other teams play on a field layout you designed. Trying to understand how they react to certain valuable areas and how you would do it different. It’s really a lesson to see all of this.

We decided it would be beneficial for us to go out and apply what we saw other teams do on the field. We had some good lanes and ways of taking valuable areas that we had all been disusing as we reffed Saturday. Some of our ideas were bust and some worked better than we had though.

We are also going to try to build off of it for the next time we design a field layout. It’s hard to balance a field design for playability, spectator viewing and still have people shoot a lot of paint so the field makes money. Mark has a field design software on his computer that we were playing around with. We were trying to replicate some of the better PSP and NPPL fields. Should be fun next time…

BioWars at Skirmish Paintball Field

We just got back from a long weekend of playing and partying. Sunday we went to Biowars at Skirmish paintball field in Jim Thorpe, PA. That was a crazy scenario and an all around fun time. Although, we were a little hungover that morning we did survive! I couldn’t blog like I though I could, because our stupid hotel didn’t have Internet and we didn’t feel like finding access else where.

They have one of the hugest castles that I have ever played in with tons of levels and rooms. There are lots of windows to hang out of and shoot from. Its hard to attack into it, but fun to defend from.

We originally set out to play with our(built for these scenario) Tippmann A5’s but I found myself switching to my Dye DM7 fairly quick due to the high level of players there. We ended up going through 2 cases of paint each. There was more paintballs flying at this event than any I had played for a long time.

I’m home this morning nursing my welts, including the dinger I took to the side of my neck! I also tore my camo pants like a fat man bending over. I think we laughed for about a half hour when that happened. Luckily, it was after the day was over and we were just packing up our paintball stuff.

They are having an “Invasion of Normandy” event in July. If we don’t end up in San Fransisco that weekend we will for sure attend that event too. The field is really awesome and they had food available throughout the day(maybe why I split my pants).
