Getting Paintball Sponsorship Requests

Posted in paintball events, paintball field, paintball sponsor with tags , on January 12, 2009 by calebtheredwood

Working at the field here, we get TONS of requests from individuals and half organized teams for sponsorship requests. We love that people are interested in playing more and being dedicated to our field. However, people are asking for new paintball guns and everything that goes with it. Jungle Falls offers a paintball sponsorship program that an organized active team can apply for. When people read it and find out they aren’t getting a new DM9 with all the ups, they get discouraged and don’t pursue the sponsorship. This sponsorship agreement clearly lays out a long term relationship with Jungle Falls and is better than most sponsorships out there in addition to being available to entry level teams in both tournament and scenario play.

sponsored-teamThere are several sponsorship help articles and pages around the internet. I wish people would spend some time researching these before they come in with high expectations. A great example of an article is: Getting Paintball Sponsorships for your Team by Wolfpack Paintball Team. They have several articles about getting sponsored including links to active sponsorship applications and resumes. We know and play with this team. They don’t have a lot of sponsors, but they do have some very long term relationships with the sponsors they do have. Their philosophy is, few is better.

We always hope to be able to help out teams. There are a number of team sponsored by Jungle Falls, some that have been there for 5+ years. They participate and help out around the field regularly. These are the type of teams that we are looking to build relationships with. Please don’t let this post be discouraging, just a little bit of an education. The sponsorship  programs has the following benefits that increase over years:

  • Pro Shop Discounts
  • Field Paint Purchase Discounts
  • Field Fee Discounts
  • Help Building a Team Resume
  • Uniform Discounts(Free Uniforms after 3 years)
  • Exposure and Personal time with Major Vendors

Please take the time to start a team resume and have a good attitude toward the field. There are a lot of rules that go along with the sponsorship. It’s reasonable though and we want both parties to benefit.

In other news, this weekends odd man out ~ 4 man cash dash tournament went off with a bag. 17 teams played their hearts out. We are trying to come up with some way to host a reball tournament. There is currently no way to do this yet without about 50 billion refs and video cameras on every player, lol. Someday we will figure it out =)

2009 equipment is starting to fill up the proshop. We appreciate everyone taking advantage of the 2008 price blow outs. We were able to clear most of the ’08 merchandise out in time to restock with new model year guns and gear. Happy New Year!!

Paintballs Powered by Steam?

Posted in paintball events, paintball guns with tags on July 29, 2008 by calebtheredwood

( It seems as Summer goes on people are getting burned out on playing paintball. They are loosing “steam” to play. In Spring everyone is dying to get out and shoot! In mid-Summer people are thinking about doing other things. Fall, as the weather threatens to take a turn for the worst, people have the zest to play again. Maybe the Fall drive is due to the knowledge that play will have to resort to indoor fields of less lit and poor turf play. The deadening sounds of indoor play resulting in poor communication and longer drives to a lesser field.

This Sunday is Commando’s Paintball Extravaganza event. We hope to go and play. It’s one of the few BYOP large events and we like to take advantage of those! Our last few trips there have been very good and we hope to play there more often.

We got a new team paintball vehicle last weekend. It’s a ’96 Chevy Astro. We are in the process of “pimping” this sweet ride to display all of our sponsors and uphold the true nature of paintball. I don’t have a clue what that last part means but it’s going to be very low buget =)

Mark has built his grenade launcher onto his Tippmann X7. I’ll try to post some pics of it in a week or two. It’s a side load pump design and he built a magazine so he can rapid feed/shoot paintball grenades. I think he’s gone too far but he is all about it. That gun has turned into more of a science project than a paintball gun. I bet he doesn’t even have 1000 rounds through it yet and he’s had it for four months.

Jungle Falls is having their swap meet next weekend. It’s a totally free event and everyone is very invited to come out. There will be many tables set up inside and out for people to display their used paintball equipment that they would like to sell/swap/trade. No real firearms are allowed at this event, paintball only items please. The gates will open at 8am and the event will run until 3pm’ish. This is a great opportunity to get rid of some of that old gear or trade up for something new. Last years event was very well populated and ran smoothly. We hope to see you there.

Throwing Paintballs at Paintball Jungle

Posted in paintball practice with tags , , on July 4, 2008 by calebtheredwood

Today we spent some time at Paintball Jungle in the San Fransisco area shooting each other. We met some people we had made contact with on PB Nation and set up a game. Paintball Jungle is a great field, they have a huge airball field with one of the largest snakes I’ve ever seen. There is a “JungleBall” area with tons of forts and good scenario playing areas.

Paintball Jungle Field

We played 4 or 5 games on the airball field before heading to the woods. We shot more paint in the wooded area than I think I’ve ever shoot in the woods before. The area with the TeePees was a blast, you can run and flank you opponents there if you keep multiple people moving and shooting. We spent most of the day running though there.

The people who run the field were very kind and wanted to know everything about our home fields. They also invited us back out for their next tournament. They even gave us a paint discount. Nice people, I highly recommend this field to anyone in the San Francisco area.

Sunday we head back home to Our Jungle Falls paintball field and get ready for the next weeks tournament. We played the last tournament there so we will be reffing this event.

Yesterday we went to the Oakland Zoo and got to feed the Giraffes. They have huge heads and foot long tongues. We fed them slimy bananas and cut-up carrots. My hand was extremely nasty after they slimed me =) Then, in the afternoon we went to Muir woods and saw the huge redwoods. It was absolutely awesome. Amazingly, many people we walking through the trails with their head’s down and talking loudly to each other like they didn’t care at all about their surroundings. I took lot’s of pictures and when I get home, I’ll upload them to my Flickr account and post a link to them.

Tomorrow we are going to the night tour of Alcatraz Island. It should be a great time. I’ve driven with eye shot of the Island and I always though it was farther away from the main-land shore.

See you all Sunday night and happy 4th of July…

The (slow)Week in Paintball

Posted in paintball events with tags , on July 1, 2008 by calebtheredwood

Not much going on this week. We finished off last weekend with a great paintball tournament. Many team’s showed up and we all battled it out at Jungle Falls Paintball Field. Our team took the podium after a tough final round battle with ‘Team Grease Monkeys’. First to second place was only separated by 7 points. Thanks to the Big Brain Crew for setting up the field and reffing the event.

This weekend there is nothing scheduled at the field so we can all go blow up some fireworks and drink a few beers. We will be out at the field Friday night to shoot our fireworks and use the grilling pits. I plan on cooking a couple of stuffed pork rolls in the smoker too. We aren’t bring our paintball equipment because we plan on drinking. We will bring our tents/camping equipment though because we don’t plan on driving 😉

Next week Mark and I are going to San Fransisco to visit some friends and do touristy things. We are both bringing our girlfriends too. I’m sure they will “run the show”, but he and I will have some fun too. I really want to go see some of the Redwoods and maybe check out the local paintball scene. I’ve already been talking to some people on PBN forums about playing a game or two. I’m leaving my paintball equipment at home though. I don’t even want to think about hauling that half-way across the US to play maybe one or two games.

Two weekends from now – July 13, 2008, will be a five man trophy dash at Jungle Falls. This is an extremely affordable tournament for any team that wants to come out and play very competitive paintball against the best teams in the state and surrounding areas. Entry is $50 a team and $10 per-person for all day air and free lunch. PMI paintballs will be sold for $55 a case. This event will be on the large ultimate air field. These events always have a huge turn out and are a fun fast paced day of super competitive play. See you there…

Clean the Paintballs out of your Gutters!

Posted in paintball events, paintball practice with tags on June 27, 2008 by calebtheredwood

We have our Ultimate airball field set up in my dad’s grassy lot behind his shop. He called me and asked if I would clean out his gutters because they were clogged and flowing over(he can’t climb a ladder). I got out the ladder and set it up to clean his shop gutters. Upon inspection, the gutters were clogged with paintball debris! LOL, seems the balls were bouncing off of the bunkers and landing on the roof, then rolling down into the gutters.

On another note: the team practice last weekend went great. There were 15+ teams that showed and a lot of “free-agents” that we worked in for a full day of fun competitive playing. We all chipped in and bought a half dozen pounds of Festival Foods Oktoberfest brats. If you’ve never had them, I highly suggest them! We grilled out and drank some beers after the practice. Everyone had a great time and the field made out. Even though it was a BYOP we still sold almost 100 cases of PMI premium.

The fields are back in full swing after the flooding. Even the lower fields are back to their old luster! We celebrated with a few games on the lower fields and some silly scenario games like “Civil War”. You must remove your hopper and drop one ball at a time into your gun. It was a blast. We had several versions of the game and made a few others with crazy rules. It’s always a good time with the teams that show up.

This weekend is the 3-man cash dash. It’s $120 entry per team and $60 for a case of PMI premium. It’s 100% payout of entry fee’s. Minimum 15 teams entered, but we already have 17 paid teams and 14 more signed up(unpaid). Entries are due day of tournament for those that haven’t paid yet. It will be on our smaller airball field. All day air is included with entry. Our team will be playing and not reffing this event, so heads up to all you slackers 😉

Just a note: we have totally cleaned out our compressors and have gotten all of the sand out of it. We had them professionally cleaned. After blowing sand into our tanks last week, we were a little concern on upsetting everyone this weekend. Not to worry, it is totally clean and tested. We also have a fresh batch of PMI Premium for this weekends event. We took out two cases and shot some and bounce tested it. We are totally ready for this weekend so come out, enter your 3 man team and play some serious paintball!

Foosball snakes Paintball again

We had a day full of practice and drills set up for today. We all met at Marks house and Cooked a Fatty. We ate most of it and didn’t feel like going out to play(doh, go figure)! We then started gathering around the foosball table and hitting a few balls around. Mark has a Tornado table that he won from a tournament many moons ago. She’s well played and plays well =)
Tornado foosball table

The day wasn’t a total loss though. We ended up doing some minor snap shooting drills and we all went for a serious bike ride to try to burn off some of the billion calories we consumed. Later on we re-consumed any lost nutrients by making a case(or two) of beer disappear. Mostly New Glarus Spotted Cow and their Road Slush(I call it Road Grime with love). We also had some of their Fat Squirrel, all very good stuff.

Tomorrow is the team practice day at Jungle Falls and we hope to have a butt load of team’s there to help the now “dryer” paintball field recover some costs from the flood clean up. We’ve got about 7 or 8 teams committed so far and several others talking about coming out. We will be trying to switch things up during the days session and play a few switched team round robin type games. It should be a fun day and affordable as it is BYOP. As always, paintballs will be available for sale.

Next week we are going to try to setup a paintball equipment swap meet. Kind of like a rumage sale for everyone to bring their stuff out and trade/sell/barter their old unwanted guns, goggles, ect… It will be a free event and we hope to tie it into a DYP scrimmage. I know I have a Tippmann 98 Custom to get rid of =)

Clean up at the Paintball Field

Posted in paintball events, paintball practice with tags , on June 19, 2008 by calebtheredwood

We have been cleaning up the field and are trying to convert it from Jungle Lake back to Jungle Falls like it’s supposed to be =) With our area getting alot of flooding it has been a challenge. Most of the water has gone down and all of the upper fields are playable again. This weekends organized team practice should take place as scheduled pending no heavy rains on Saturday. The turf field dried out quite allot in todays beautiful sunshine.
This was the river last weekend taken from the bridge just down from the field. As you can imagine the lower fields were completely covered. Although, the water level is down from the fields, they are still muddy and unusable for this weekend.

On a good note, some junk has floated onto the field property that we can use as bunkers =) Ya I can always find a positive note to something like this. Most of it was just put into a couple of piles in the wooded areas and it’s officially a “make shift” bunker. We just made sure there were no sharp edges or rusty protrusions that someone could get hurt with or ruin their equipment.

We have managed to run a few drills over the last few days and get in some halfway decent practice. Mark has been working alot due to the flooding. The city has been asking him to work overtime, so our practices have been limited. He should be here in full gear and ready to play this weekend though. Jeff has a family obligation but will also be in attendance at this weekends team practice. He wants to tryout his new Tippmann X7 paintball gun and give it a good break-in!
